Privacy Statement

   As a society, we, the Williams County Genealogy Society, do collect and publish contact and surname information provided by our members for the purpose of engaging one another regarding shared interests in specific family histories as well as genealogy in general. Correspondence has always been an important part of doing family research, even before computers. WCGS does not keep or use cookies or any other tracking information for this or any other purpose.
     Information you provide to WCGS beyond the basic membership information is not used outside of the immediate purpose for which it is given. Information given by non-members such as to purchase publications, or to submit specific requests, or to attend a special program sponsored by WCGS is also not kept or shared outside of the context of the society. Information about living persons provided as part of the lineage proofs is not shared at all but is protected as private (this information is used only briefly by the lineage committee and then redacted from the rest of the application files).
     The services we use to publish this site may also store information about you using cookies (files which are sent to your computer or other access device) which can be accessed when you visit our site in future. Data summary is provided to us to [keep track of how may visits are occurring on which pages via what type of devices and what is being searched for so that we can improve your experience as a visitor].
